8.A sad story
Jim met two friends in the street.
继母在大街上遇见了他的两个朋友
"Come back to my apartment for a meal,"he said"You can see the whole of the city from my bedroom window."
“去我的公寓吃顿饭吧”他说,“你们可以从我卧室的窗户看到整个城市”
His two friends agreed and they went bact with Jin to the aparment building where he lived on the 40th floor.
他的两个朋友同意了,然后跟随着吉姆一起去了他那40层高的公寓
When they arrived, however,the elevator(电梯) was out of order.
可是当他们到达公寓的时候,电梯却不运作了
"l'm sorry,Jim said,"We'll have to walk ."
“我很抱歉”吉姆说,“看来我们必须走上去了”
"But it's forty floors!"they said.
“但是这有40层啊!”他的朋友们说.
"We'll talk as we climb,"Jim said,"You can tell me the mew jokes you've heard and when we get to my apartment l'll tell you a story."His friends agreed and they started to climb the forty flights of stairs.At last they reached the top floor and were standing outside the door of Jim's apartment.
“ 我们一边爬一边聊天.”“你们可以告诉我你们听的新笑话,当我们到达我的公寓的时候,我就告诉你们一个故事"他的朋友们同意了,然后他们就开始往上爬这40层.最后他们到达了最顶层,然后站在了吉姆公寓的门前.
"Now tell us a good story."his friends said.

Jim looked at them sadly and said "Once upon a time there was a man who met two friends. He invide them to his apatment on the fortieth floor.The elevator wasn't working and they had to climb forty flightsof stairs. When they reached the fortieth floor he put his hand in his pocket for the key to the door of his apartment .lt wasn't there. Then he remembered where is was. lt was in his car
吉姆看起来很悲伤,然后说“从前有一个男人遇见了他的两个朋友,然后他邀请他们去他的第40层公寓,电梯不工作了,他们不得不爬楼梯上去,当他们到到这40层的公寓时候,他用手在兜里找门钥匙,但是钥匙没在,然后他想起来钥匙在那了,在他的车里”
